The Northeast BC Community Foundation is pleased to share that the Tumbler Ridge Community Advisory Committee has now been established to help guide the work of the Tumbler Ridge Community Resiliency Fund.

This fund was created to support community-level healing, recovery, and long-term resilience following the events of February 10. From the beginning, it has been important that this work be guided by the people of Tumbler Ridge. The needs, hopes, and priorities of the community must shape how the fund is used.

We are deeply grateful to everyone who put their name forward to serve on the Community Advisory Committee. The quality of applications received reflected the care, commitment, and strength of the Tumbler Ridge community. Each application demonstrated a desire to contribute thoughtfully to the community’s healing journey, and we sincerely appreciate the time and consideration that applicants gave to this process.

The Community Advisory Committee will play an important role in helping ensure that local voices are reflected in funding priorities and decision-making. Committee members will support community engagement, help identify emerging needs, and provide insight into how the fund can best respond to community-defined priorities over time.

The members of the Tumbler Ridge Community Advisory Committee are:

  • Melody Baynton
  • Amber Bell
  • Charla Brazeau
  • Mark Deeley
  • Jane Miedzinski
  • Nicole Noskana
  • Lisa Risvold
  • Katie Stelfox
  • Janice Turner
  • Joan Zimmer

We extend our sincere thanks to these individuals for their willingness to serve the community in this important capacity.

The establishment of the committee is an important step forward. Healing and recovery are not linear, and community needs may change over time. For that reason, the process will be thoughtful, trauma-informed, and responsive. The committee’s guidance will help ensure that funding decisions are grounded in local knowledge and shaped by the voices of those who live in Tumbler Ridge.

In the coming weeks, the Foundation and the Community Advisory Committee will continue developing the process for community engagement and future funding decisions. More information will be shared as this work progresses, including opportunities for residents to provide input.

The Northeast BC Community Foundation is honoured to steward this fund and remains committed to transparency, care, and community-led decision-making. Most importantly, we recognize that this work must be guided by Tumbler Ridge, for Tumbler Ridge.
